Hello everyone,
I was recently contacted by a lovely lady from the Dermalogica team asking if I would like to try out some of their new Clear Start range and also to become a Dermalogica #skinfluencer. Of course I was absolutely gob smacked that I would even be considered to try some of there products and I can not thank the Dermalogica team enough for sending over these products.
I have actually never tried any of the Dermalogica products before so I was very excited to try out the new range as I had heard that the brand is great for problematic skin. So the new products in the range are the Blackhead clearing fizz mask and the breakout clearing booster.
Application
I like to apply the mask after washing my face or when I get out of the shower and apply quite a generous layer to my skin. I will usually do this around 2 times a week, maybe three. If I am pampering myself I will apply it all over the face, however, I do find it probably quicker and easier to just apply it onto the blackhead troubled areas. You then keep the mask on for around 10 minutes and during this time the mask begins to fizz and bubble up. Which is honestly the most satisfying thing to watch. I then Remove the mask after 10 minutes with a flannel or muslin cloth and basically just give my face a scrub to make sure my blackheads are gone/ reduced. I will then pat my face dry with a towel. Once I have applied my moisteriser, eye cream and tan to my face, I will take a small amount of the breakout clearing booster and pop it onto my spots and problem areas. You can also apply this before moisteriser all over the face, which I am yet to try but will definitely try this out soon.
Texture/ consistency
The texture/ consistency of the face mask is not too thick, but not too runny. It actually comes out of the tube a yellow/ orangy colour and also smells like turmeric.
I won't lie, I am not the biggest fan of the smell, however it's not horrendous and is definitely not putting me off the product. It is also not sticky which is great, however, I would definitely recombined washing your hands after wards and not wiping your hands on anything as the colour developes into a yellow colour when dried. Nearly as soon as the product is on your face it begins to bubble up so you don't have to wait long at all for the product to work.
As for the spot treatment, the texture/consistency is pretty much like any other spot treatment, clear and a little runny. Personally I like a clear spot treatment because it means your spot/ problem areas are not highlighted. When it dries, it does not leave a dry residue on the face which is so great.
Packaging
As for the packaging, I love the fact the face mask comes in a pump form. I don't know why but I love it when skin care comes in a pump form, I just find it so easy to use and apply to the fingers. As for the spot treatment packaging, at first I was a little sceptical as to how I was getting the product out. I started by squeezing the bottle but then soon came to realise you press the top of the bottle for the product to come out. I think both of the products have very useful packaging and the amount of product that comes in both is great, especially the spot treatment as usually these can be quite small.
Results
So you are probably all waiting for my thoughts about the new Clear Start range and my verdict. Well... I love the concept of both the products and I think they both have great qualities. As for the face mask, I would say you do have to use it a couple time before seeing results. After trying out these products for the last 2-3 weeks, I wouldn't say the mask fully removes all black heads, but I would say that the mask definitely reduces the size of the blackheads and pores. The spot treatment again, I would say that the spot does not fully disappear, and to be honest I am yet to find a spot treatment that does so. However, again I think the treatment definitely reduces the size of the spots. I tend to apply this in the evening so I will usually wake up to my spot being reduced in size and also the puffiness of the spot is definitely reduced. Over all I think the new range is great and especially because these two products are vegan, cruelty free and gluten free which just makes the products so much better. I think the packaging is great and really handy and the sizes of the products are great. The only thing I would say is that the face mask could be a little bigger as it is the same size as the spot treatment and I feel it could run out quite quickly.
Once again, thank you so much to the lovely team at Dermalogica for sending me these products, I am forever grateful.
Thankyou so much for reading, see you next time...
