Ingredients
7 oz Self raising flower
3.5 oz caster sugar
3.5 oz butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the icing
5 tblsp icing sugar
water
food colouring
sprinkels
Method
(you can also find this recipe on the BBC food website)
1- Firstly add the self raising flour and sugar to a bowl and give it a little mix with a wooden spoon so everything is combined.
2-now add in the butter and use your hands to make the mixture into, what resembles, breadcrumbs.
3- Once this is done, crack your egg into a small bowl and whisk it until its light and frothy. Then add in the teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg mixture.
4- Now begin to combine the dry ingredients and the eggs together with a wooden spoon and then use your hands when the mixture becomes stiff and into a dough ball.
5- Place the dough onto baking paper and lightly dust a large rolling pin with flower and begin to roll out the dough. Make sure its not too thin or too thick, just under a cm will do.
6- Now you can choose any cookie cutter you like to cut out your shapes. Im using a cupcake cookie cutter from sainsburys.
7- cook for 10-15 minutes on gas mark 4.
